Cook – Full‑Time Position

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Cook to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia, based in Kampala, Uganda. The role provides daily culinary support for the contract, delivering high‑quality meals while maintaining strict food safety standards in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and measure ingredients according to standard recipes and menu requirements.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to serve high‑quality meals during scheduled dining periods.
• Maintain accurate food inventory records and report discrepancies.
• Store food products in compliance with food safety standards and ensure proper temperatures.
• Rotate inventory using FIFO methods to preserve freshness and minimize waste.
• Replenish kitchen supplies, ingredients, and workstations for upcoming shifts.
• Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, and workstations at the end of each shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the position.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of experience as a Cook in a commercial or restaurant setting.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow recipes and food production guidelines.
• Working knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to obtain required visas.

Required skills

• ServSafe Food Handler or Food Protection Manager certification (or ability to obtain).
• Food safety procedures.
• Recipe reading and interpretation.
• Inventory management using FIFO rotation.
