Crane Operator / Rigger

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Crane Operator / Rigger to join Amentum’s team supporting a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves safely moving materials using mobile cranes and rigging equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and position mobile cranes to move loads to designated locations.
• Inspect, maintain and configure cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, shackles and sheaves according to load weight and size.
• Conduct site surveys, task analysis and lift calculations to plan safe lifts.
• Interact directly with the customer to coordinate material movements.
• Perform operator‑level maintenance on crane and rigging components.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum one (1) year experience as a crane rigger.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport for at least one year and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to pass and maintain contract medical requirements.
• Fluent in reading, speaking and comprehending English.

Required skills

• Selection and configuration of rigging equipment (cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, shackles, sheaves).
• Lift calculation and analytical skills.
• Operator‑level maintenance of crane and rigging components.
• Conducting site surveys and task analysis.
