Entomologist – Climate‑Smart Insect Farming Specialist

About the role

World Vision Uganda is seeking an Entomologist to lead climate‑smart insect‑based livelihood interventions in refugee settlements of Adjumani and Lamwo. The role focuses on developing sustainable Black Soldier Fly (BSF) production and beekeeping value chains to improve food security, nutrition, and income for vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement BSF and beekeeping interventions aligned with climate‑smart agriculture principles.
• Establish and manage demonstration sites, production units, and apiaries.
• Develop technical guidelines for insect rearing, harvesting, processing, and product utilization.
• Facilitate market linkages and value‑addition for honey, beeswax, propolis, and BSF larvae.
• Conduct training sessions, field days, and hands‑on demonstrations for farmers, refugee groups, youth, and cooperatives.
• Monitor project outcomes and report progress to the Project Manager.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in Entomology, Agricultural Sciences, or related field.
• Experience working with insect production systems, preferably BSF or apiculture.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural, low‑resource environments.
• Strong communication skills for capacity‑building and stakeholder engagement.
