Facility Manager

About the role

The Facility Manager will lead all facility, logistics and technical operations at the EMERGENCY Children Surgical Hospital in Entebbe, ensuring a safe, functional and compliant environment for patients and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and supervise facility management, logistics and technical activities across the hospital and its compounds.
• Coordinate maintenance of construction works, energy, HVAC, water, sanitation, IT infrastructure, cold-chain, laundry, and medical-gas systems.
• Manage medical, hazardous and general waste in line with organisational standards and safety regulations.
• Implement security policies and ensure compliance with internal and donor requirements.
• Prepare and monitor action plans, budgets and procurement processes for technical, logistics and facility needs.
• Oversee shipment planning, customs clearance and transport documentation.
• Supervise warehouses, storage facilities, inventory tracking and logistics indicators.
• Maintain infrastructure, vehicles, technical equipment, IT systems and the organisation’s vehicle fleet.
• Develop data-management systems for maintenance, consumption and operational indicators and produce regular reports.
• Coordinate and supervise non-medical staff, ensuring effective workload planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience in planning, organising and supervising facility and logistics operations in a healthcare or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance for HVAC, water, sanitation, IT, cold-chain and medical-gas systems.
• Ability to ensure compliance with safety, security and donor regulations.
• Experience preparing and monitoring action plans and budgets for technical projects.
• Competence in supervising procurement, shipment coordination and customs procedures.
• Experience managing warehouses, inventory systems and logistics indicators.
• Capability to oversee infrastructure, vehicle fleet and technical equipment maintenance.
• Skill in developing data-management tools and producing operational reports.
• Leadership experience in supervising non-medical staff and workload planning.
