Green Champion – Masaka and Mpigi District

About the role

AKF Uganda is looking for two enthusiastic Green Champions to support the Climate Resilience Initiative in Masaka and Mpigi districts. The role involves mobilising schools, farmers and community groups to adopt climate‑smart practices and to implement microforest, agroforestry and clean‑energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Engage schools, farmers, community groups and local leaders to participate in project activities.
• Promote awareness and adoption of climate‑smart, environmentally sustainable practices.
• Identify and profile suitable beneficiaries and intervention sites.
• Collect, verify and maintain accurate baseline, beneficiary and site data.
• Deliver training to farmers, schools and communities using approved curricula.
• Support the establishment and management of microforests, agroforestry systems and other restoration initiatives.
• Assist in the deployment and use of clean‑energy and water technologies.
• Conduct regular monitoring visits and provide technical guidance to beneficiaries.
• Upload data to project monitoring systems and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Document lessons learned, best practices and success stories with photographs and geotagged evidence.

Required profile

• Dynamic, enthusiastic and self‑motivated individual.
• Strong communication and community mobilisation skills.
• Ability to work with schools, farmers and local authorities.
• Attention to detail for data collection and reporting.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned district and conduct field visits.
