Health & Safety Manager

About the role

The Health & Safety Manager will lead the implementation of global and local occupational health and safety programs for SGS in the assigned country. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, aligns regional safety strategy with site operations, and drives a culture of safety across all business units.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate country‑level H&S managers and site coordinators.
• Implement global and local regulatory H&S programs to ensure compliance.
• Align regional H&S strategy with country and site activities.
• Ensure H&S training meets local regulatory and HSMS requirements.
• Operationalise local regulations and the global HSMS using assessment tools and audit processes.
• Integrate H&S compliance in mergers, acquisitions, and new projects.
• Manage communication of incidents, near‑misses, hazards and best practices.
• Develop a regional H&S organisation and build competency through best‑practice sharing.
• Conduct audits to verify implementation of H&S programs and legal compliance.
• Provide H&S support during site expansions, new constructions, equipment purchases and process changes.
• Report incidents, near‑misses, hazards and KPIs using the Crystal reporting tool.
• Implement SGS‑wide initiatives such as Safe Start, Safety Month, Stop Work Authority and Behaviour‑Based Safety.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Proven experience in occupational health and safety management.
• Strong knowledge of local and international H&S regulations.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive cultural change.

Required skills

• HSMS (Health & Safety Management System) proficiency.
• Crystal reporting tool experience.
