Human Resource Officer – Operations Lead

About the role

The Human Resource Officer – Operations Lead will drive day‑to‑day HR activities, ensuring smooth people management and strict compliance with company policies and Ugandan labour law. You will act as a bridge between HR, Operations and Finance to optimise staffing and enhance employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily HR operations, maintain confidential employee records and oversee recruitment, onboarding, transfers and exits.
• Manage attendance, leave and payroll inputs to guarantee accurate, timely salary processing.
• Conduct regular field visits to verify staff attendance, discipline, welfare and operational compliance.
• Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions and workplace investigations with fairness and professionalism.
• Administer employee insurance, incident reporting and welfare programmes.
• Coordinate training, coaching and performance‑management initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with labour legislation, company policies and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly HR operational reports and support continuous process improvement.
• Collaborate with Operations and Finance to align staffing levels with business needs.
• Drive employee‑engagement activities to boost morale, productivity and retention.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a mid‑level role.
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan labour laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
