Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Uganda)

About the role

MAF International is seeking a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to join its aviation team in Uganda. The role supports the safe and effective operation of MAF’s fleet, providing essential maintenance services in a mission‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance within licence scope.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair and re‑assemble aircraft, engines and components using approved data and SOPs.
• Complete maintenance records, inspection forms, checklists and release‑to‑service documentation accurately.
• Supervise maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with quality, safety and regulatory standards.
• Report defects, safety concerns and compliance issues through MAF reporting systems.
• Maintain tools, equipment and hangar facilities and participate in quality and safety audits.
• Support training, mentoring and development of trainees and other maintenance staff.
• Collaborate with local and regional engineering teams, including occasional deployment to other programme locations.

Required profile

• Completion of an approved aircraft maintenance engineer pre‑employment course.
• ICAO Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (without type rating) or progress towards an EASA licence.
• Minimum two years of aircraft maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of human factors and health & safety principles in aviation maintenance.
• Methodical approach with strong attention to detail and high initiative.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, mission‑focused environment.
• Willingness to support maintenance activities away from the normal base location.
