Program Manager, Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal and Newborn Health

About the role

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is seeking a Program Manager to lead its Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal and Newborn Health (SRMNH) portfolio. The role focuses on strengthening emergency referral systems and improving outcomes for mothers and newborns in high‑burden settings, with a current emphasis on Uganda.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor SRMNH programs that address birth asphyxia, prematurity, and maternal haemorrhage.
• Coordinate with government ministries, private‑sector partners, and local health facilities to ensure functional communication and transport linkages.
• Develop and refine triage, referral, and treatment protocols to reduce delays in care.
• Lead data collection, analysis, and reporting to track progress against mortality reduction targets.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to in‑country teams and partners.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience managing health programs in low‑ and middle‑income countries.
• Strong understanding of maternal and newborn health challenges and referral system dynamics.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with governments, NGOs, and private‑sector stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project‑management skills.
