Project Director – Child Development, Care & Protection

About the role

The Project Director will lead the child development, care and protection project for Catholic Relief Services in Uganda. Reporting to the Head of Programs, the role ensures effective systems, donor compliance and high‑quality programming while representing CRS with government ministries, NGOs and community partners.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary relationship manager with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, foreign governments, civil‑society partners and community networks.
• Lead all phases of project development, implementation and close‑out, ensuring alignment with CRS quality standards, donor guidelines and best practices.
• Oversee donor compliance, sub‑award management and coordination with consortium partners and government stakeholders.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance to project teams, including security risk management and mitigation.
• Identify, assess and strengthen partnerships in line with CRS partnership principles.

Required profile

• Senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development projects, preferably in child protection or care.
• Proven track record of managing donor‑funded programmes, sub‑awards and compliance reporting.
• Experience working with government ministries, NGOs and faith‑based organisations in Uganda or similar contexts.
• Strong ability to manage security risks and ensure staff safety.
• Excellent communication and partnership‑building skills.
