Regional Agriculture Officer – Ntungamu District

About the role

The Regional Agriculture Officer provides technical leadership and coordination for agriculture extension work—including cropping and livestock—across multiple districts within the region, as part of RTV's core methodology. The role focuses on training and cascade‑capacity‑building, coordinating harmonization trainings for Government Extension Officers through Master Trainers, and delivering virtual trainings region‑wide.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate harmonization trainings for Government Extension Officers through identified Master Trainers.
• Collaborate with the Venn team, procurement, program staff and local authorities to ensure technically sound agriculture interventions.
• Support the design of regional adaptive clusters, introduce relevant agricultural innovations and oversee pilot projects.
• Maintain standard demonstration gardens across the region as reference models.

Required profile

• University degree in Agriculture (crop and animal husbandry, agribusiness, agricultural technology or related field).
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in agricultural programming, including coordination or training across multiple districts.
• Experience in community development and understanding of organic pesticide use, soil management and crop‑pest management.
• Ability to travel up to 80 % of the time and work in high‑terrain environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
