Senior Obstetrician & Gynecologist (OB/GYN Specialist)

About the role

We are seeking a senior Obstetrician & Gynecologist to lead our Maternity and Labour & Delivery units in Kampala. The specialist will provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care, manage high‑risk pregnancies, and perform complex surgeries in a tertiary‑care environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive outpatient and inpatient obstetric and gynecological services, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
• Perform normal and complicated deliveries, Caesarean sections, and other obstetric surgeries.
• Conduct gynecological procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, and laparoscopic surgeries.
• Manage high‑risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies in coordination with anesthesia, NICU, and critical care teams.
• Provide family planning, infertility evaluation, and reproductive health counseling.
• Lead and supervise the Maternity and Labour & Delivery units, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety standards.
• Mentor junior doctors, medical officers, midwives, and nursing staff.
• Participate in developing departmental protocols, quality assurance initiatives, and on‑call emergency rosters.
• Support business development through community outreach and referral network building.

Required profile

• MBChB or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
• Postgraduate specialization (MD/MS/DGO/DNB) in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• 5–7 years of post‑qualification clinical experience, including senior or consultant roles.
• Proven experience managing high‑risk obstetric cases and complex gynecological surgeries.
• Experience in a multispecialty hospital or tertiary care setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to departmental leadership.
