Emergency Vehicle Technician

About the role

The Emergency Vehicle Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of fire department vehicles and heavy equipment, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and ready for emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and servicing of fire trucks, ARFF apparatus, ambulances, and associated heavy equipment.
• Conduct heavy‑equipment tasks such as engine removal, hydraulic and pneumatic system overhaul, and air‑conditioning repair.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using computerized test equipment, gauges, and calibration devices.
• Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, valves, planetary drive units, suspensions, seals, bearings, and axle brakes.
• Calibrate load‑monitoring indicators and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Document work orders, invoices, and equipment repair records.
• Act as point‑of‑contact for maintenance issues in the absence of a supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of heavy‑vehicle maintenance experience, preferably with emergency or military equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license.
• Prefer EVT Level 1 or related fire‑apparatus certification.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and lift up to 100 lb.
