Head of Manufacturing & Operations

About the role

East African Medical Vitals Ltd is looking for a dynamic Head of Manufacturing & Operations to join the Executive Team. This senior leader will drive manufacturing excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across all production functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end manufacturing operations, including Production, Sterilization, Packing, and Engineering & Projects.
• Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with corporate goals.
• Collaborate with the Managing Director on business strategy, operational planning, and execution.
• Manage departmental budgets, cost‑control initiatives, and capital expenditure proposals.
• Optimize plant efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure effective capacity utilization.
• Oversee inventory management and production planning to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and cGMP practices; lead audit processes and inspections.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
• Lead, mentor, and develop high‑performing manufacturing teams, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical, Textile), Bio‑Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of senior management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and cGMP standards.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Management or membership in a relevant professional body is an advantage.
