GPS Tracking Installation & Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a skilled GPS Tracking Installation & Maintenance Engineer to join our field team in Kamwokya. You will be responsible for installing and servicing telematics hardware on a variety of vehicles, ensuring reliable communication with our fleet management platform.

Key responsibilities

• Perform professional auto‑electrical installations of GPS trackers, telematics units, fuel sensors, immobilisation relays and dash‑cams on light, heavy and specialised vehicles.
• Diagnose, repair and replace faulty hardware, wiring harnesses or sensor configurations on‑site or at client facilities.
• Verify system integration and conduct end‑to‑end diagnostic checks before handing over to the client.
• Follow automotive wiring standards, safety protocols and company guidelines to protect vehicle electronics.
• Maintain detailed installation logs, field reports, inventory records and obtain client sign‑off for each job.
• Provide brief operational briefings to fleet managers and resolve escalation tickets efficiently.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering or a closely related field.
• Valid driver’s or motorcycle licence with a clean record for field travel.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and hands‑on troubleshooting experience.

Required skills

• Auto‑wiring and soldering.
• Multimeter diagnostics.
• Understanding of vehicle electrical architecture (12V/24V systems, CAN‑bus, relays, ignition sensing, automotive schematics).
• Basic networking and telemetry protocol knowledge.
• Installation of GPS tracking devices, telematics units, fuel sensors and dash‑cams.
