Innovation and Learning Senior Specialist

About the role

The Innovation and Learning Senior Specialist will lead the development and implementation of U‑RIL’s strategy in Uganda, working closely with Save the Children International, partners and local organisations to drive innovative solutions for children.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure overall coherence of U‑RIL programming and alignment with the RIL Global Strategy, U‑RIL strategic documents and Save the Children strategy.
• Maintain a strong working relationship with the RIL Central Support Unit, facilitating two‑way dialogue and contributing to global RIL strategy development.
• Collaborate with the U‑RIL Operations and PDQ teams to design cohesive activities, projects and programmes aligned with global priorities.
• Design and implement an Innovation Scaling Strategy for U‑RIL, exploring options for scaling innovations within and beyond SCI and RIL founding members.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with RIL founding members, organising regular high‑level meetings and identifying collaboration opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to uptake innovations and create synergies between U‑RIL programming and other RIL founding members in Uganda.
• Leverage existing networks and create new in‑country stakeholder networks to market RIL core functions and services.

Required profile

• In‑depth contextual understanding of the Ugandan child protection and development landscape.
• Proven technical expertise in designing and delivering innovation‑focused programmes.
• Strong relationship‑building and partnership development skills.
• Experience in national advocacy, influencing policy and external representation.
• Ability to lead strategy development and support new business development.
• Capacity to work closely with operations teams and build ownership within local organisations.
