IT Specialist

About the role

Palmpay, a fast‑growing Pan‑African fintech, is looking for a proactive IT Specialist to manage, maintain and optimise its technology infrastructure. The role ensures seamless IT operations across the organisation, supporting both internal teams and the broader business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers, enterprise applications, and perform regular updates, patches and backups.
• Configure, monitor and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls and routers to guarantee high availability and security.
• Implement and enforce IT security policies, monitor for vulnerabilities, conduct risk assessments and security audits.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support for hardware, software and network issues, and train staff on IT tools and best practices.
• Lead IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations and integrations, coordinating with vendors and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate IT documentation, including network diagrams, asset inventory and SOPs, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional IT experience in enterprise environments.
• Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CCNA, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, AWS Certified SysOps).
• Strong analytical mindset, ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
