MEAL Coordinator – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

The MEAL Coordinator will lead the implementation, quality assurance, and harmonisation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) activities across DRC Uganda’s operational areas. Reporting to the MEAL Manager, the role provides technical supervision to field MEAL Officers and ensures compliance with DRC’s MEAL standards and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support integration of MEAL throughout the Project Cycle Management and develop project‑specific MEAL plans.
• Oversee indicator tracking tools, IPTTs and data collection systems, ensuring timely and quality submissions.
• Provide input on MEAL aspects of project proposals, including indicators, logical frameworks and budgeting.
• Coordinate data quality assurance measures, ethical standards and data protection protocols.
• Supervise and mentor Area MEAL Officers, including performance appraisals and work planning.
• Facilitate cross‑project learning through kick‑off, review and close‑out meetings.

Required profile

• Relevant higher‑education qualification in Monitoring & Evaluation, International Development, Social Sciences or related field.
• Proven experience in designing and managing MEAL systems in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of donor reporting requirements and DRC’s MEAL Minimum Monitoring Requirements.
• Excellent analytical, communication and team‑leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Experience with indicator tracking tools and performance tracking tables.
• Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data collection methodologies.
• Familiarity with data quality assurance processes and ethical data handling.
