Accountant

About the role

ZLZK Heavy Industry Uganda Limited is hiring an Accountant in Kampala within its Finance department. The role manages daily accounting operations, keeps financial records accurate, prepares financial reports and ensures compliance with Uganda's tax and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and accounting entries
• Prepare monthly financial reports and statements
• Manage accounts payable, receivable and bank reconciliations
• Prepare and file VAT, PAYE and withholding tax returns
• Ensure timely payment of statutory obligations to URA and other authorities
• Support monthly payroll preparation and reconciliation
• Monitor expenses and support budget preparation
• Maintain financial documentation and support internal and external audits

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• CPA or ACCA Level II or above
• At least 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience
• Good knowledge of Uganda's tax laws and URA processes
• Experience in manufacturing, automotive, construction or heavy machinery is an added advantage

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Analytical and numerical skills, attention to detail, integrity and confidentiality
• Communication, organisation, ability to meet deadlines and work independently
