Agricultural Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking an Agricultural Officer to lead community‑based projects that restore ecosystems, enhance climate resilience, and improve natural resource management across Uganda. You will work directly with local farmers, community groups, and project teams to deliver practical, labor‑intensive interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise communities for participatory agricultural activities.
• Implement ecosystem restoration, climate‑adaptation, and natural‑resource‑management projects using a labor‑intensive approach.
• Manage field workforce and community members, ensuring safety and productivity.
• Conduct practical demonstrations and field trainings.
• Collect data, analyse results, and produce high‑quality reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of practical field experience in community mobilisation and project implementation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension or a related field.
• Strong analytical, communication and report‑writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good knowledge of local market systems, climate‑smart agriculture, environment and gender inclusion.
• Valid motorcycle riding licence and competent riding skills.
• Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
