Baker – Supermarket (Kampala, Uganda)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Baker to join our supermarket bakery team in Kampala, Uganda. You will be responsible for producing a wide range of baked goods while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and bake breads, rolls, cakes, pastries, muffins, cookies, doughnuts and specialty items following approved recipes.
• Mix, knead, shape, proof and bake products to meet consistency and quality standards.
• Decorate cakes and pastries as required and ensure attractive presentation for sale.
• Monitor baking times, temperatures and product quality throughout production.
• Inspect ingredients and finished products to guarantee taste, texture, appearance and portion size consistency.
• Manage inventory of baking ingredients and packaging, applying FIFO principles and minimizing waste.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work environment and comply with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Operate and maintain bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, proofers and slicers, reporting any faults promptly.
• Collaborate with deli and supermarket staff to support smooth daily operations, especially during peak periods.

Required profile

• Entry‑level qualification with up to 24 months of relevant experience.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and work to production targets.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety standards.
• Willingness to work onsite in a fast‑paced bakery environment.
