Drivers - Vaccine and Health Commodities Distribution

About the role

A client of Q-Sourcing is building a database of qualified, experienced drivers to support the safe and timely distribution of vaccines and other health commodities from central and district medical stores to health facilities across Uganda. Successful candidates are responsible for transporting and delivering these goods while following road traffic regulations, vehicle safety standards and distribution procedures. There are 20 positions, with deployment by call-off depending on operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Safely transport and deliver vaccines and other health commodities to health facilities, and collect consignments from medical stores on time.
• Comply with Uganda's road traffic laws and defensive driving standards, and follow assigned routes efficiently, including to remote locations.
• Inspect vehicles before, during and after trips, report mechanical faults and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel consumption, mileage, deliveries and vehicle maintenance, and manage fuel accountability.
• Handle consignments securely, respond to emergencies and accidents, and report delays and incidents to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Honest, trustworthy, safety-conscious, reliable, punctual and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel independently to remote locations across Uganda; deployment depends on availability.
• Advantages: experience transporting pharmaceuticals or medical supplies, experience with medical supply programmes or humanitarian organisations, and experience keeping vehicle and delivery logs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Uganda road traffic laws and defensive driving.
• Routine vehicle inspection, basic mechanical troubleshooting and fuel management.
• Emergency response procedures and basic first aid.
• Records management (trip sheets, delivery documentation) and route planning.

Application requires a CV, UCE or equivalent certificate, a valid Ugandan driving permit (classes B, CM, CH), a Defensive Driving Certificate, proof of first aid training, evidence of at least five years of accident-free driving, and contact details for two referees. Candidates must state any experience transporting pharmaceuticals or vaccines.
