Farm Manager – Sustainable Agriculture

About the role

The Farm Manager will lead day‑to‑day operations of a large commercial farm in Uganda, driving sustainable and regenerative practices. This full‑time, onsite role combines hands‑on field work with strategic planning to ensure high‑quality crop and livestock production.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and supervise all farm activities including land preparation, planting, irrigation, harvesting and post‑harvest handling.
• Develop seasonal cropping plans aligned with market demand and farm objectives.
• Lead, mentor and manage farm supervisors and field teams, providing training and performance oversight.
• Oversee maintenance and efficient use of machinery, irrigation systems and infrastructure.
• Implement integrated pest and disease management programmes.
• Manage water‑resource use, water‑harvesting structures and climate‑resilient irrigation scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with local agricultural regulations, environmental standards and bio‑security protocols.
• Prepare regular performance reports and coordinate with agronomists, engineers and senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Forestry, Animal Science or related field.
• 10+ years of experience managing large‑scale commercial farms or regenerative agriculture projects.
• Proven ability to lead diverse field teams and manage budgets.
• Strong knowledge of local agricultural regulations and safety standards.
