Nurse – UNISFA Medical Services (Temporary)

About the role

The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) is seeking a qualified Nurse to join its Medical Services Unit in Entebbe on a temporary 364‑day assignment. The incumbent will support the Medical Officer in delivering clinical care, managing medical records, and coordinating medical logistics for mission staff and uniformed personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in day‑to‑day clinical activities, including nursing consultations and emergency assistance.
• Schedule and conduct routine and on‑demand medical examinations for staff.
• Maintain confidential medical records and ensure proper filing of test results and X‑rays.
• Coordinate MEDEVACs, repatriations of uniformed personnel, and medical procurement logistics.
• Provide medical support during troop rotations and at transit camps.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; registered professional nurse designation or equivalent certification.
• At least 5 years of progressive clinical experience in a hospital setting.
• Valid driver’s license (preferred) and emergency care certificates (PHTLS, BCLS, ACLS, ATLS) are desirable.
• Proficiency in English (UN Level II) and ability to work with confidential records.

Required skills

• Experience with electronic medical record systems such as EarthMed.
• Knowledge of emergency medical procedures and certifications (PHTLS, BCLS, ACLS, ATLS).
• Ability to manage medical logistics, including MEDEVAC coordination.
