Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager ensures the smooth, efficient, and reliable day‑to‑day functioning of Rooted Wisdom Africa across all programs and sites in Uganda. Acting as the organization’s systems integrator, this role aligns people, processes, and resources to support effective program delivery and organizational growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operational activities across all programs and sites, coordinating workflows between programs, finance, M&E, and leadership.
• Maintain and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure clear communication across departments.
• Coordinate transport, travel schedules, and field logistics for program teams, ensuring timely availability of materials, tools, and supplies.
• Lead procurement processes, manage vendor selection, purchasing, and maintain inventory and asset registers.
• Support onboarding of new staff, track attendance, coordinate schedules, field assignments, and leave planning.
• Oversee maintenance of offices, training spaces, and field sites, managing utilities, repairs, and service providers.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and safeguarding protocols, maintaining documentation for audits.
• Identify operational gaps, implement process improvements, and manage operational challenges in rural environments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations, logistics, or program support within a non‑profit or development context.
• Strong organizational and coordination abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
• Experience managing procurement, inventory, and asset registers.
• Familiarity with compliance, risk management, and safeguarding standards.
