Project Officer – Early Childhood Development (National)

About the role

The Early Childhood Development (ECD) Project Officer will lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of high‑impact ECD interventions in Upper Madi Okollo. Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the role ensures that community‑centred activities are delivered efficiently, sustainably and in line with ZOA’s humanitarian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ECD needs assessments to identify priority intervention areas based on community input, government policies and organisational strategy.
• Mobilise and sensitise communities, establishing local structures to oversee project implementation and foster ownership.
• Develop and coordinate multi‑annual, annual and quarterly work plans for ECD programme delivery.
• Monitor project activities, collect data and produce regular progress reports for internal and donor stakeholders.
• Integrate child sponsorship processes with ECD activities to enhance holistic child development.
• Facilitate regular community meetings to communicate project progress and gather feedback.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in community‑based project implementation, preferably in early childhood development or child protection.
• Strong understanding of participatory approaches and community mobilisation techniques.
• Excellent communication skills in English and local languages.
• Ability to work independently in remote settings and travel within the project area.
