Agriculture Officer – Climate Smart Agriculture Project

About the role

The Agriculture Officer will lead the technical implementation of climate‑smart agriculture interventions in refugee settlements and host communities in northern Uganda. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role focuses on improving agricultural productivity, resilience to climate shocks, and food security through sustainable practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead climate‑smart agriculture activities in target settlements and host communities.
• Promote adoption of climate‑resilient crop technologies and sustainable farming practices.
• Establish and manage demonstration plots, farmer field schools, and learning sites.
• Provide technical support on soil fertility, conservation agriculture, water harvesting, agroforestry, and climate adaptation.
• Support farmers in improving crop production, post‑harvest handling, and food‑security practices.
• Organise and deliver training for farmers, extension volunteers, and local stakeholders.
• Mobilise and strengthen farmer groups, cooperatives, and producer organisations.
• Facilitate knowledge‑sharing and peer‑learning sessions among beneficiaries.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in agricultural development, preferably in humanitarian or refugee contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse community groups and coordinate field activities.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
• Willingness to work onsite in remote locations.
