About the role
The Department of African Languages at Makerere University is seeking an Assistant Lecturer to support teaching, research, and community outreach in the ATESO language. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to contribute to academic excellence and cultural preservation.
Key responsibilities
- Teach, examine and grade undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise student research projects and theses.
- Mentor junior academic staff.
- Conduct research and engage in community outreach activities.
- Write proposals to attract funding for departmental initiatives.
- Perform any other official duties assigned by the Head of Department.
Required profile
- MA in African Languages, Linguistics, Literature, or Language and Literature Education.
- At least an upper second class BA Arts or BA with Education, with subjects in English Language, Literature, or Linguistics.
- Fluency in Ateso.
