About the role

The Faculty of Education at Makerere University seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Lecturer to join the Foundations & Curriculum Studies team. This full‑time position involves delivering high‑quality teaching, supervising student research, and contributing to the department’s academic and community outreach initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Teach, examine and grade undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Supervise and mentor student research projects.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior academic staff.
• Conduct research and engage in community outreach activities related to curriculum development.
• Write proposals to attract external funding for departmental projects.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• Master of Education in Education Foundations (specialising in Philosophy of Education) or Master of Arts in Arts (specialising in General Philosophy) with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
• Relevant bachelor's degree: Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts with Education, Bachelor of Science with Education, or any bachelor’s degree combined with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
