About the role
The Department of Performing Arts & Film at Makerere University is seeking an Assistant Lecturer in Music. This full‑time position involves teaching undergraduate students, supervising research, and contributing to the department’s academic and community outreach activities.
Key responsibilities
- Teach, examine and grade music courses.
- Supervise student research projects.
- Mentor junior academic staff.
- Conduct research and engage in community outreach initiatives.
- Write proposals to attract funding for the department.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Music with a specialization in performance, jazz, or western instrumentation.
- Upper second‑class Bachelor’s degree in Music.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience in teaching, research, or community engagement.
