Avocado Specialist

About the role

The Avocado Specialist will manage the sourcing, handling, and quality of avocados used in product development and production at Premier Distilleries Limited. Based on‑site in Kampala, this full‑time position works closely with farmers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure a reliable supply of premium fruit.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with avocado growers and suppliers to secure consistent deliveries that meet company specifications.
• Assess fruit quality, monitor ripeness, and control storage conditions to minimise waste.
• Document inventory levels, track market trends, pricing, and seasonal availability.
• Support product formulation and trials that involve avocado‑based ingredients.
• Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and R&D teams to optimise usage and ensure food‑safety compliance.

Required profile

• Experience in avocado cultivation, post‑harvest handling, or fresh‑produce management.
• Background in agriculture, food science, horticulture or a related discipline (diploma or degree preferred).
• Knowledge of food‑safety and quality‑control standards for fruit handling.
• Strong communication skills for working with farmers, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to work on‑site in Kampala and adapt to a fast‑paced production environment.
