Branch Manager - Microfinance

About the role

MN HITTA Financial Services Ltd, a credit company licensed by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA), provides short-term loans to individuals and small businesses through branches in Kyaliwajjala, Nateete and Kajjansi. It is hiring two Branch Managers for its Credit Operations department, reporting to the Operations Manager and supervising Loans Officers. The Branch Manager runs the branch as a business, accountable for its growth, loan quality and profit.

Key responsibilities

• Grow the client base and loan book, set monthly targets for Loans Officers and lead marketing and client sensitisation
• Review loan appraisals, monitor repayments daily and recover overdue loans, aiming for 95% collections and a portfolio at risk below 5%
• Run the branch as a profit centre, controlling costs so income exceeds expenses each month
• Supervise, coach and appraise Loans Officers monthly, hold daily briefings and run joint field visits
• Reconcile daily disbursements and collections, keep records accurate in the digital system and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports
• Ensure compliance with credit policy, UMRA requirements and the Data Protection and Privacy Act, and resolve client complaints

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Microfinance, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
• At least 2 years in microfinance or credit operations, including 1 year supervising a team or branch
• Proven record of growing a loan portfolio while keeping quality high
• Fluency in English and Luganda; knowledge of Uganda's Tier 4 microfinance framework and a credit management qualification are advantages
• Willingness to work at any branch, including new ones

Required skills

• Computer literacy, including MS Office, digital loan systems and mobile money platforms
• Credit analysis, risk judgement, sales and business development, negotiation and recovery
