Certified Surgical Tech

About the role

We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to join our operating room team. In this position you will support surgeons during procedures, maintain sterile technique, and contribute to infection control and equipment management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain medical equipment, instruments, and sterile fields for surgeries.
• Assist with patient preparation, positioning, draping, and transport to the procedure room.
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, retract tissue, cut sutures, and perform other duties under physician supervision.
• Conduct safety checks, count sponges, needles, and instruments, and manage specimen handling.
• Maintain physician preference cards, inventory, and assist with decontamination, sterilization, and quality testing.
• Clean, restock, and set up the operating room for upcoming procedures.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• CST certification (or state‑granted equivalent) and current BLS certification.
• Preferably 1‑2 years of clinical experience in an operating‑room setting.
• Team‑oriented with proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients and health‑care team members.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification.
• Proficiency in sterile technique and infection‑control practices.
• Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Inventory management and preference‑card upkeep.
• Decontamination, sterilization, and high‑level disinfection procedures.
