Chief Operating Officer (COO)

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will provide strategic and operational leadership for Raising The Village’s global operations, ensuring the organization has the systems, people, and infrastructure needed to scale its mission across Sub‑Saharan Africa. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will be a key driver of operational excellence and rapid growth while maintaining high standards of quality and impact.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and continuously improve operational systems and processes across field operations, digital platforms, and data systems.
• Align cross‑functional teams to deliver program services at scale, ensuring consistency, accountability, and learning.
• Oversee the integration of technology and data tools that support program delivery and impact measurement.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to set operational priorities, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Lead talent acquisition, development, and retention for operational teams.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, financial, and governance standards in all operating regions.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of senior operational leadership experience, preferably in international development or nonprofit sectors.
• Proven track record of scaling complex programs across multiple countries.
• Strong strategic thinking with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including partnerships with governments, donors, and community groups.
