Credit Evaluation Officer – Agriculture

About the role

The Agriculture Credit Evaluation Officer will provide professional credit assessment services for agricultural loan proposals, supporting the bank’s asset growth while managing risk. This role focuses on delivering timely, high‑quality decisions that enhance customer experience and strengthen the agribusiness portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary credit assessments and manage the loan pipeline for agricultural facilities.
• Evaluate credit proposals against business criteria, credit policies and delegated authority, approving or referring as appropriate.
• Provide technical guidance to originators to reduce rework and improve turnaround times.
• Monitor the agribusiness portfolio, identify adverse trends and recommend mitigation actions.
• Build relationships with branch and relationship managers to improve proposal quality.
• Design and deliver training modules on agricultural credit for staff and clients.
• Ensure completeness and verification of documentation, including credit bureau checks.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 36 months of experience in credit evaluation, preferably within agriculture finance.
• Strong understanding of credit risk principles, banking policies and governance standards.
• Ability to analyse financial statements and assess business viability.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and training delivery.
