Credit Officer

About the role

Kenty Microfinance is seeking a motivated Credit Officer to grow and manage a quality loan portfolio in Kampala. This is a field‑based position that requires you to engage directly with small business owners, farmers and low‑income households, guiding them through the loan process and ensuring timely repayments.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and recruit potential borrowers through market visits, community outreach and field surveys.
• Educate prospects on loan products, eligibility criteria and repayment terms.
• Assist clients in completing loan applications and assess creditworthiness based on business viability and repayment capacity.
• Disburse approved loans and conduct regular follow‑up visits to monitor repayment performance.
• Collect accurate field data, flag early warning signs of risk and report to the Branch Credit Manager.
• Represent Kenty Microfinance in the community, building trust and maintaining the institution’s reputation.

Required profile

• At least 12 months of experience in credit, micro‑finance, banking or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the local community and its economic activities.
• Professional, ethical and highly responsible with a proactive attitude.
• Ability to work independently in the field and manage a personal portfolio.
