About the role
The Deputy Project Coordinator – Policy and Advocacy will lead the strategic and operational aspects of the PlayMatters 3.0 initiative, focusing on policy development and advocacy to embed Learning through Play (LtP) within Uganda’s education system. This role works closely with government ministries, local authorities, and partner organisations to ensure the sustainability and scale of the programme.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for policy and advocacy components of PlayMatters 3.0.
- Develop policy briefs, guidelines, and advocacy materials to promote LtP integration.
- Coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Sports, district authorities, and consortium partners to align programme objectives with national education policies.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of policy interventions and report findings to senior management and donors.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops, round‑tables, and consultations to build consensus and ownership.
- Support the preparation of funding proposals and donor reports related to policy work.
Required profile
- Minimum five years of experience in policy development, advocacy, or programme coordination within the education or humanitarian sector.
- Proven experience working with government ministries and multi‑partner consortia.
- Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel within Uganda and work in challenging environments.
