Director of Impact

About the role

The Director of Impact will lead Water for Good’s Technical Assistance portfolio, ensuring delivery, quality and measurable results across multiple countries. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines program oversight, data‑driven learning and strategic growth of impact initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Resolve cross‑country issues and make trade‑off decisions beyond the authority of country leads.
• Oversee delivery and performance management of all Technical Assistance projects against grant agreements.
• Establish delivery standards, stage‑gates and review cadences for the portfolio.
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews covering progress, risk, budget and partner satisfaction.
• Build and maintain relationships with implementing partners, government agencies and WASH networks.
• Maintain a consolidated risk register and drive mitigation actions to closure.
• Develop tools, templates and playbooks to accelerate new TA engagements.
• Represent the TA portfolio in global program and leadership forums.
• Produce accurate, on‑time reporting for donors, senior leadership and the Board.
• Set and enforce technical quality standards, including design review and field verification.
• Lead structured learning reviews and integrate findings into organizational strategy.
• Identify and pursue new TA opportunities, contributing to proposals and pricing.
• Lead, coach and develop direct reports, managing performance and career growth.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience managing multi‑country development programs, preferably in WASH or related sectors.
• Strong background in monitoring, evaluation and learning with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain partnerships with NGOs, governments and donors.
• Excellent leadership and people‑development skills, with experience coaching teams.
• Strategic mindset to scale technical assistance while maintaining quality.
