Finance Specialist (Readvertised)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council in Uganda is seeking a Finance Specialist to ensure sound financial management and compliance with donor regulations, statutory requirements, and internal policies. Working closely with the Finance Manager, the specialist will support accurate reporting, effective budget control, and strategic financial oversight for DRC’s programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with DRC’s Operations Handbook, donor regulations and statutory obligations.
• Collaborate with Area and Project Managers to develop, review and revise project budgets.
• Provide financial oversight, analyse variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and update monthly Budget Follow‑Up reports and participate in review meetings.
• Validate payment requests, ensuring supporting documentation, budget availability and proper coding.
• Assist in cash‑flow forecasting, funding requests and monitor fund availability.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including reconciliations and adjustments.
• Review and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, resolving outstanding items promptly.
• Oversee compliance with country‑specific tax, levy and statutory filing requirements.
• Support rollout of new financial system functionalities.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of donor regulations, statutory requirements and internal financial controls.
• Experience in budgeting, financial reporting and cash‑flow management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and senior management.
