First Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs

About the role

Busitema University is seeking a creative, knowledgeable, and accomplished academic leader to serve as the First Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs (DVC‑AA). The incumbent will assist the Vice‑Chancellor in providing strategic leadership and will oversee university‑wide academic initiatives to enhance academic life and promote excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Vice‑Chancellor in delivering the University’s vision and strategic objectives.
• Lead and coordinate academic administration, policy development, and planning across at least six faculties and multiple directorates, institutes, and centres of excellence.
• Superintend all matters of academic affairs, ensuring implementation of strategic initiatives for academic excellence.
• Collaborate with Faculty Deans, senior leaders, the University Council and Senate to align academic programmes with institutional goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an academic leader with strong multidisciplinary relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex academic structures and drive policy and planning processes.
• Capacity to work effectively with senior university governance bodies, including the Council and Senate.
