Head of Finance and Administration

About the role

Reporting to the Country Representative, the Head of Finance and Administration will lead the development and implementation of the country programme’s financial and administrative strategy. This senior position ensures compliance with donor, legal and organisational requirements while supporting high‑quality programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all projects follow AVSI’s administrative and financial guidelines and meet donor compliance requirements.
• Exercise accurate budget control, oversee budget revisions, and provide financial advice to field offices.
• Prepare and submit timely financial reports to AVSI, donors and local authorities, and ensure proper audit implementation.
• Collaborate with the HR department on employment‑related administrative matters and develop annual departmental plans.
• Promote professional growth of finance and administration staff across the country office and peripheral offices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting or audit roles, preferably within INGOs or multinational organisations.
• At least 5 years of field experience in an NGO setting, ideally in a similar senior role.
• Strong knowledge of donor requirements, budgeting, reporting and external audit processes.

Required skills

• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience using accounting and ERP software.
• Fluent written and oral proficiency in French and English.
• Valid international driving licence.
