Head of Finance

About the role

Eversend is looking for a Head of Finance to lead the financial record‑keeping, controls and reporting for its Ugandan operations. This hands‑on position will own the month‑end and year‑end close, statutory filings and audit coordination while working closely with Operations, Treasury, Compliance and Product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain ledger integrity and produce accurate multi‑currency accounts and Uganda statutory financial statements.
• Perform and reconcile bank, customer‑fund, partner and float balances, investigating any discrepancies.
• Design, document and enforce maker‑checker controls, approval limits and accounting processes.
• Prepare and submit all required financial and regulatory returns on time.
• Oversee the accounting of trust and safeguarded customer funds, collaborating with Operations and Treasury.
• Lead external audit engagements, manage tax compliance and ensure timely statutory filings.

Required profile

• Strong background in accounting, financial control and statutory reporting, preferably within banking or fintech.
• Experience handling multi‑currency transactions and regulatory finance requirements.
• Ability to work independently, maintain high attention to detail and stand behind every number.
• Proven track record of managing audits, tax filings and financial close processes.
