Livelihoods & Agriculture Specialist

About the role

The Livelihoods & Agriculture Specialist will strengthen Suyana Foundation’s livelihoods, agriculture and economic‑strengthening programmes in Uganda. Working closely with the Regional Programmes Manager Africa, the Uganda Country Coordinator and technical partners, the role supports design, implementation and continuous improvement of sustainable agriculture initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support partners in designing and implementing livelihood and agriculture programmes aligned with national priorities and market realities.
• Provide field‑based technical assistance, capacity‑building and mentorship to farmer groups, cooperatives and producer organisations.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation and learning activities, ensuring data quality and timely reporting.
• Contribute to proposal development, market‑systems analysis and stakeholder engagement across Uganda and the wider East African region.
• Travel regularly to project sites in Uganda and occasionally to neighbouring countries such as Rwanda.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 7 years (84 months) of relevant experience in livelihoods, agriculture or rural development.
• Right to work in Uganda (or eligible for sponsorship as agreed with Suyana).
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with partners, NGOs, farmer groups and government agencies.
• Strong analytical, communication and reporting skills.
