Logistics Assistant – Kampala, Uganda (FMCG)

About the role

Our client, a leading manufacturer and distributor of premium food products in East Africa, is seeking a Logistics Assistant to support daily transport and distribution activities in Kampala. The role focuses on coordinating deliveries, maintaining fleet and fuel records, monitoring cold‑chain compliance, and ensuring efficient dispatch operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage fuel cards, schedule vehicle fueling and keep accurate fuel consumption records.
• Report vehicle breakdowns and service needs to the Logistics Supervisor.
• Track deliveries in real time using tracking applications and phone communication.
• Coordinate and resolve delivery issues to meet customer timelines.
• Monitor cold‑chain procedures and ensure temperature compliance.
• Prepare daily logistics reports covering temperature, delivery timelines and outlet performance.
• Supervise truck cleaning, sanitisation and pre‑cooling before loading.
• Allocate routes and assignments to Delivery Executives and drivers for optimal efficiency.
• Coach and train drivers and Delivery Executives, and oversee staff welfare items such as PPE and uniforms.
• Ensure proper signing, stamping and filing of invoices, delivery notes and contracts.
• Maintain organized logistics documentation for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Logistics Management or a related field.
• CPA‑U qualification is mandatory.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in logistics, transport or supply chain management.
• Proven ability to supervise and train delivery teams.
