About the role
The Program Officer – Education will lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of the ECHO RISE education programme in selected districts of Uganda. Working closely with the Project Manager and local partners, the officer ensures that interventions are delivered on time, within budget and aligned with Save the Children’s quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute education activities in designated sub‑counties, ensuring compliance with quality benchmarks.
- Support orientation and capacity‑building for teachers, head teachers, community volunteers, school management committees and parent‑teacher associations on the Quality Learning Environment (QLE) framework.
- Coordinate with District Education Officers, community development officers and other stakeholders to develop annual plans for basic education interventions.
- Facilitate the adoption of Save the Children’s Common Approaches, including Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL).
- Monitor programme progress, prepare reports, and organize implementation meetings and workshops.
- Maintain relationships with local government education officials and ensure accountability to internal and external Save the Children standards.
- Provide technical advice to teachers and volunteers and support emergency response activities when required.
Required profile
- Experience in planning and managing education programmes in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Strong understanding of gender, inclusion, child protection and rights‑based programming.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government officials, NGOs and community stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
