Project Director – Child Development, Care & Protection

About the role

The Project Director will lead CRS’s child development, care and protection programme in Uganda, overseeing all aspects of project design, implementation and close‑out. Reporting to the Head of Programs, the role ensures high‑quality delivery, donor compliance and effective partnership with government and civil‑society stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, foreign donors and local partners.
• Lead the full project cycle – from design and start‑up to monitoring, reporting and close‑out – in line with CRS quality standards and donor guidelines.
• Manage sub‑awards, budgets and financial reporting to ensure compliance with donor requirements.
• Coordinate with consortium partners and government agencies to align activities and maximize impact.
• Identify, assess and strengthen partnerships using CRS partnership principles.
• Proactively manage security risks and ensure staff safety in the field.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development projects focused on child protection, health or education.
• Strong knowledge of donor compliance, sub‑award management and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with government ministries, NGOs and community groups.
• Excellent strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation skills.
• Experience working in Uganda or similar contexts is highly desirable.
