Project Officer – Livestock

About the role

The Project Officer – Livestock will lead the technical implementation of climate‑smart livestock production and management interventions within the SRM component of the WFP Integrated programme. Working from Rhino Camp, the role supports refugee and host communities to improve animal health, productivity, and household resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Implement climate‑smart livestock interventions, promoting sustainable breeding, feeding, housing and welfare practices.
• Coordinate disease surveillance, vaccination, deworming and treatment campaigns in partnership with veterinary authorities.
• Train farmers and community animal health workers on animal health management, bio‑security and early disease detection.
• Support the establishment of fodder production, pasture development and feed‑conservation initiatives.
• Facilitate livestock‑based livelihood activities to increase household income and food security.
• Monitor, report and ensure compliance with project plans, donor requirements and World Vision Uganda policies.
• Supervise Community Based Trainers and collaborate with district officers, extension workers and local authorities.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education in agriculture, animal science, veterinary medicine or a related field.
• Experience in livestock production, animal health management and climate‑resilient farming practices.
• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders in humanitarian or development settings.
• Strong monitoring, reporting and facilitation skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
