Publications Officer / Editor – Research & Graduate Training

About the role

The Directorate of Research and Graduate Training at Makerere University seeks a Publications Officer/Editor to manage the full lifecycle of scholarly publications. This full‑time position will support the university’s mission to disseminate high‑quality research and instructional materials.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate pre‑press activities, reviewing manuscripts and producing camera‑ready copies for publication.
• Oversee the publication process for journals hosted by the university.
• Manage the production of scholarly books authored by Makerere staff.
• Organise distribution of learning and instructional materials.
• Identify and liaise with marketing outlets for scholarly materials produced by Makerere University Press and the university library.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Director.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (Publishing) or an honors Bachelor’s degree in the same field.
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant working experience.
