Documentation Consultant – Stories of Change (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania)

About the role

Horizont3000, an Austrian NGO working in sustainable development cooperation, is seeking a qualified consultant to document the know-how3000 (kh3000) programme under the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) framework programme 2023-2026. The work captures stories of change and produces high-quality film and a mini booklet to share results, lessons and impact, with a focus on women's empowerment and gender equality. The assignment takes place mainly in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in an inception meeting and develop a detailed work plan covering interviews, field visits and content development.
• Visit selected partner organisations in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya to capture photos and video of stories of change.
• Document experiences shared by project gender focal points and Horizont3000 staff.
• Produce four video clips (3-5 minutes each) and one mini documentary (5-15 minutes).
• Draft a mini booklet with selected stories, lessons learned and best practices.
• Create up to ten digital flyers/infographics and submit all raw and edited content in digital format.

Required profile

• Expertise in documentation, storytelling and communication strategies for NGOs.
• Proficiency in photography and videography, including editing and documentary production; if working in a team, one member must be an expert photographer.
• Strong writing and communication skills, with excellent English and working spoken Kiswahili.
• Previous experience with NGOs in East Africa is an added advantage.

The consultancy runs from an inception meeting on 13 November 2026 to final delivery on 14 December 2026. The consultant proposes a budget (fees, communication, taxes) not exceeding 20,000,000 Ugandan shillings including taxes; in-country travel costs are covered by Horizont3000. Applications are submitted by email by 10 November 2026 with a technical proposal, financial proposal, CV and portfolio, and successful candidates are invited to an online discussion on 13 November 2026.
