Regional Agriculture Officer – Central Region

About the role

The Regional Agriculture Officer will lead the planning, design and implementation of agriculture extension interventions across partner communities in the Central Region. Working closely with the Venn team, procurement staff and local authorities, the officer will ensure climate‑resilient, community‑driven solutions for cropping and livestock.

Key responsibilities

• Design and plan agriculture extension activities, providing innovative, climate‑resilient approaches.
• Identify and recommend optimal planting, fertilising, harvesting and storage methods.
• Conduct technical support on soil profiling, seed verification, pest and disease management.
• Facilitate training for RTV staff, local extension officers and community champions on organic fertilisers, natural pesticides and post‑harvest practices.
• Monitor planting cycles, crop yields and community training metrics, reporting findings to the Venn team.
• Coordinate with procurement to define seed specifications and ensure quality supplies.
• Document field data, attend district meetings and manage weekly financial reconciliations.

Required profile

• University degree in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Community Development or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in agricultural extension or community development.
• Strong understanding of organic pesticide use, soil and crop management.
• Fluent in English and major local languages used in RTV implementation areas.
• Ability to travel up to 80% of the time and work in high‑terrain field conditions.
